High-Volume Pad Printing for Caps and Closures

Injection molders and packaging suppliers need precise branding on rigid plastic caps, lids, closures, and cap seals. We specialize in high-volume pad printing for the most demanding production environments. Our process utilizes flexible silicone pads to transfer crisp graphics to cap seals, bung seals, dust covers, and specialty lids - an alternative to hot stamping. We deliver consistent results that are trusted by health and beauty brands, food and beverage companies, packaging suppliers, and plastic injection molders.

Pad Printing Caps and Closures

Printing Solutions for Complex Cap Geometries

Standard decoration methods struggle with uneven or contoured packaging parts. Pad printing solves this problem by using a soft silicone pad that conforms perfectly to irregular shapes. This allows us to transfer flawless designs onto ribbed edges, recessed tops, textured materials, and curved sports caps. Our setup maintains tight registration across high-volume runs to ensure your branding looks clean and professional on every single unit.

Delivering High-Detail and Multi-Color Graphics

When your project requires more than a simple metallic foil, our pad printing services deliver the exact visual specifications your brand demands. We engineer our production lines to handle intricate artwork, tight tolerances, precise color matching, and multi-color layouts.

  • Multi-Color Logo Registration: We maintain exact alignment for complex brand images requiring two or more colors.
  • Exact PMS Color Matching: Our in-house color matching team mixes opaque standard colors and custom inks to match your brand guidelines perfectly.
  • Fine Text and Production Information: We cleanly print regulatory text, barcodes, functional instructions, and batch codes directly onto the plastic surface.

Superior Ink Adhesion with Custom Pretreatment

Printing on common closure materials like polypropylene and polyethylene requires specialized surface preparation. Without it, ink will easily scratch or peel off during handling. We operate custom-built flame treating and corona pretreatment equipment to prepare these specific plastics before any ink touches the surface. This crucial step ensures our conventional solvent-based and UV pad print inks create a permanent bond with the cap.

FAQs

Polyolefin plastics like polypropylene and polyethylene naturally resist ink adhesion. We use specific pretreatment methods on these materials to alter their surface energy, which allows the pad printing ink to bond permanently and resist scuffing.

We use dedicated nests and custom fixture design built directly into our tooling. By referencing a top-view drawing with centerlines provided by the customer, we ensure the logo aligns perfectly on every single lid throughout the production run.

Hot stamping uses heat and pressure to transfer metallic foil to relatively flat or simple surfaces. Pad printing uses a flexible silicone pad to transfer wet ink, making it the ideal choice for multi-color designs, fine text, intricate barcodes, and closures with complex geometries.
